Yo Maps Denies Wife’s Alleged Affair with Blogger Elias Musyani in Court Drama

In a dramatic courtroom showdown, Zambian musician Elton Mulenga, widely known as Yo Maps, firmly denied allegations of a romantic relationship between his wife, Kidist Kifle, and social media blogger Elias Musyani. The claims emerged during cross-examination by Musyani’s lawyer, Douglas Njolomba, in a case that has captivated public attention.

“It’s a joke,” Mulenga retorted when questioned about the alleged affair. He dismissed suggestions of any relationship between Musyani and his wife. Stating he was unaware of any communication between the two. When asked why Musyani’s number was saved in Kidist’s phone, Mulenga maintained his ignorance.

The tension escalated as Njolomba pressed further, asking Mulenga how he would respond if it were proven that his wife had been seeing Musyani. “That would be a lie,” Mulenga responded unequivocally. He also revealed that he was present during any interactions between Kidist and Musyani, further discrediting claims of secrecy.

Alleged Harassment and Threats

Mulenga’s testimony took a somber turn as he detailed the emotional toll of Musyani’s alleged online harassment. He recounted how Musyani had publicly insulted Kidist on Facebook, calling her a “she-devil,” “witch,” and “long-faced.” Even more distressing, Mulenga claimed that Musyani had threatened the life of their three-year-old daughter.

“I was so scared for my daughter’s safety that I stopped taking her to school,” Mulenga told the court. “I didn’t know what Musyani was capable of.”

Mulenga explained that he had retrieved a video from Musyani’s Facebook account containing the offensive remarks. He also noted that Musyani had later apologized for the insults during a podcast appearance, though the damage had already been done.

Cyber Harassment Charges Against Musyani

Elias Musyani is facing two counts of harassment under Section 69 of Zambia’s Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021. The charges relate to an alleged Facebook post on April 8, 2024, in which Musyani is accused of using electronic communication to intimidate, harass, and cause emotional distress to Kidist Kifle.

The case has drawn significant attention, blending elements of celebrity drama, cybercrime, and personal vendettas. The court has adjourned the matter to February 12, 2025, for the continuation of the trial.
