Renowned journalist Pennipher Sikainda, known for her work with the National Broadcaster (ZNBC), has made headlines of her own after the Lusaka High Court officially dissolved her marriage to gospel singer Nathan Nyirenda.
According to court documents, the couple’s divorce has been finalized, with the court issuing a decree nisi absolute.
Sikainda and Nyirenda tied the knot on December 13, 2014, in a ceremony at Mount Zion Christian Center in Lusaka. However, their marriage faced irreconcilable differences, leading Sikainda to file for divorce on September 12, 2022, under Section 8(1)(b) of the Matrimonial Causes Act No. 20 of 2007.
On September 26, 2024, Family and Children’s Court Judge Mwamba Chanda granted the divorce petition, allowing a six-week reflection period before finalizing the decision. With no reconciliation attempt from either party, Judge Chanda officially dissolved the marriage on January 24, 2025.
The court has since referred all property settlement matters to mediation.
