Renowned Zambian musician Dandy Krazy, whose real name is Wesley Chibambo, is in critical condition following a tragic road traffic accident that claimed the lives of four people.
The accident occurred on December 31, 2024, around 19:10 hours at the Green Leaf area. The area is approximately 25 kilometers south of Kapiri Mposhi along the Great North Road. According to a statement released by the police. The incident involved three vehicles: a Shacman truck, a Toyota Allex, and a Nissan Hardbody.
The Shacman truck, driven by 28-year-old Hachalwa Lweendo, was traveling from Kapiri Mposhi to Kabwe when it lost control due to excessive speed. The truck collided with a Toyota Allex and a Nissan Hardbody traveling in the opposite direction.
Tragically, the driver of the Toyota Allex and two of its passengers died instantly. The Nissan Hardbody’s driver, who was alone in the vehicle, also lost his life at the scene.
Dandy Krazy, a passenger in the Toyota Allex, sustained serious injuries and was initially admitted to Kabwe Central Hospital. He has since been transferred to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka, where his condition remains critical. Public Relations Officer Nzeba Chanda confirmed that the musician is set to undergo emergency surgery.
The bodies of the deceased, who are yet to be identified, have been taken to the Kapiri Mposhi Urban Clinic mortuary. Meanwhile, the truck driver, who escaped unscathed, fled the scene but later turned himself in to the authorities.
