Zambian music sensation Yo Maps has found himself at the center of attention after proudly displaying his recent acquisition, a Land Cruiser VX, on his Facebook page two months ago. While his fans celebrated the milestone, it appears the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) took notice as well, leading to restrictions being placed on Yo Maps’ vehicle.
Sources within the ACC have disclosed that the commission has limited the singer’s ability to sell the vehicle, suspecting it to be associated with illicit activities. The Land Cruiser VX, a symbol of luxury and opulence, has become the subject of an inquiry by the ACC, raising questions about its origin and funding.
According to insiders, Yo Maps, whose real name is Elton Mulenga, received the vehicle from a politically exposed person allegedly attempting to conceal ill-gotten wealth. This revelation prompted the singer and his wife to appear before the ACC for questioning as authorities aim to unravel the mystery surrounding the funding of this high-end purchase.
The Anti-Corruption Commission is reportedly skeptical about Yo Maps’ ability to afford such a luxurious vehicle solely through his music endeavors. The singer’s income from gigs and the music business is being scrutinized as part of the investigation. The ACC believes that the funds generated from his professional pursuits may not be sufficient to justify the acquisition of a vehicle of this caliber.
When reached for comment by Kalemba, the ACC communications department deferred response until the following day, maintaining a level of secrecy around the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, Yo Maps appeared unfazed by the situation, dismissing the ACC’s suspicions. He asserted that his music career has been lucrative enough to fund such acquisitions, citing the construction of a house ten times the cost of the Land Cruiser VX from his musical earnings.
Yo Maps went on to express his lack of awareness regarding the ACC’s inquiry and even mentioned plans to acquire another Land Cruiser, this time in white. The outcome of the investigation remains uncertain as at now.
