In a surprise move, Bayern Munich are reportedly to have agreed in principle to sell Sadio Mane to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. Mané is set to sign a three-year contract with the Riyadh-based side.
The transfer agreement has come as a surprise seeing that he only joined Bayern Munich last summer, on a three-year contract. However, the Senegalese international has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months, with reports suggesting that he was unhappy with his role in the team.
Mane’s move to Al Nassr will see him link up with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the club from Manchester United. And with Mané on the cards, the two players are likely to form a formidable attacking partnership upfront in the hopes of challenging for the Saudi Professional League title. Other notable transfers include, Alex Telles, Fofana, Ospina and Brozovic.
What does the move mean for Mané and Bayern?
Mane’s move to Al Nassr is a significant one for the player presenting him with a number of opportunities; a lucrative contract that will earn him a lot of money, and linking up with one of the greatest players of all time. It will be interesting to see how Mane performs at Al Nassr.
On the other hand, Bayern Munich are still a strong team, and they have a number of other talented players. However Mane’s departure is a serious blow to the club given how they failed to utilise him.
