Chileshe Mukupa (born September 6, 1996), popularly known as Chilz Jr, is a Zambian Rapper, Singer and songwriter from Emmasdale, Lusaka. During his early musical years, Chilz Jr released his first independent mix-tape “ABOVE” with Camstar as the guest artist, which was released in 2016. The period between 2016 and 2017, Chilz Jr Released two Extended Play albums. The early 2017 EP “Things Do Change EP” is said to have received a lot of positive views from fans and critics in the music industry, it is also credits as an EP that made Chilz Jr to discover who he really was and the type of music that suits him.
Musical Career
2014-16: Early Career
Chilz Jr, musical journey begun early 2014, working on a number of songs as an up coming artist. in 2016 his music went on another level as it saw the release of his first mix-tape “ABOVE” which featured Camstar. This record became a motivation in a way, to his musical career for its success and the gaining of recognition from ready established artists and there fans.
2017-18: “Things Do Change EP” and “Young King EP”
From there he thought of doing more with his earlier success. In early 2017, he released another tape titled “Things Do Change EP” which touched on day to day issues that one can relate to, which in turn helped Chilz Jr in the process of self discovery. Though he had a hyped up start in his career, Chilz was later pushed to the blink of quiting music because of less appreciation of his efforts, but he later realized it wouldn’t be the best move and decided to do more.
In late December 2017, he released “Young King Ep” which didn’t go viral compared to his previous releases, but had great songs on its back. Seven months later Chilz Jr released a follow up tape “Young King II“. This tape is said to be one of his best releases despite the rapper claiming that he didn’t bring out his best in it because of less appreciation of music in Zambia.
